Nominations Are Now Open in the 2020 Coffee Roasters Guild Election

Dear Coffee Roasters Guild Members,

Nominations are now open for the 2020 CRG Leadership Council elections. This year, the CRG Leadership Council has four open positions. Submit your nomination using this form.

Who are we looking for?

The CRG Leadership Council is looking for dedicated roasters who want to make a difference in the roaster community. Every year, we seek to add gender, racial, and geographic diversity to our group, so we encourage CRG members from around the world to consider nominating themselves or others to these positions.

We seek CRG members who care about and identify with our current key goals and initiatives for the Guild:

  1. To listen, collect (knowledge, experiences), and share with the community

  2. To reach out to coffee communities where the CRG is not currently active

  3. To create a toolkit for sustainability in the roasting sector

Does this sound like you or someone you know? Click here to submit a nomination today. Form closes on September 18.

What are the responsibilities of a member of the CRG Leadership Council?

The CRG Leadership Council is a group of elected leaders who volunteer their time to the Coffee Roasters Guild and who work with SCA staff to help deliver activities, events and services online and offline to members of the coffee roasting community. Our volunteer leaders add intellectual, political, and social value to new and ongoing initiatives of the SCA, CRG, and the industry at large. Meet our current Leadership Council here.

Some of the general responsibilities of the Leadership Council responsibilities include:

  • Assisting SCA staff with developing strategic objectives on an annual basis, including recommendations for needed resources

  • Implementing objectives and activities according to the strategic plan and reporting progress on ongoing initiatives to CRG members and to SCA

  • Seeking to understand the needs of current CRG members and provide SCA staff with strategic input and direction on objectives

  • Providing a direct link and feedback to the SCA Board of Directors via the CRG ex-officio seat on the SCA Board of Directors

  • Attending two CRG Leadership Council meetings per year

  • Being available for virtual leadership meetings as required (8-10 virtual meetings per year)

How does the CRG election process work?

When nominations close on September 18, nominees will be reviewed by the CRG Election Committee, chaired by me, CRG Immediate Past Chair Sonja Grant from Iceland, with the support of the following CRG members:

  • CRG 2nd Vice Chair David Myers from the USA

  • CRG Leadership Council Member Lulu Wang from Taiwan

  • CRG Member Régine Guion-Firmin from Kenya

  • CRG Member Konrad Oleksak from Poland

  • CRG Member Cameron Heath from the USA

Each nomination will be carefully reviewed by the Election Committee and interviews will be carried out by the members of the committee. A slate of nominees will be selected from the nominee pool and will be announced on November 2. Email ballots will be sent to all CRG members on November 23 and the new Leadership Council members will be announced on December 14, 2020.
