Announcing the 2023 Diedrich Roasters Scholarship Program for CRG Retreat
The Coffee Roasters Guild (CRG) and Diedrich Roasters have announced the 2023 Diedrich Roasters Scholarship program for CRG Retreat, taking place September 28 to October 1 in Blaine, Washington, USA.
Coffee Roasters Guild Retreat is a global gathering of industry roasters that facilitates a sense of camaraderie and collaboration among fellow roasters. This annual event is a prime opportunity to deepen your passion for the art of roasting and gain a greater understanding of the craft.
The Diedrich Roasters Scholarship benefits those individuals who may be new to the coffee roasting role or for a variety of reasons, including financial, have not had the opportunity to attend CRG Retreat. The program is designed for future or current leaders in the coffee roasting community that are helping to drive the future of specialty coffee.
Applications for the Diedrich Scholarship to attend CRG Retreat are now open! Five scholars will be awarded the scholarship, covering registration fees and shuttle fees for the event. This includes access to the Roaster Showcase, Friday lectures, Saturday workshops, the Team Challenge, social activities as well as meals and beverages during the event.
One of last year’s Diedrich Scholarship recipients states; “I had only a year’s worth of roasting experience when I applied for the Diedrich Roasters Scholarship for Retreat. Since attending, I have developed a more detailed and knowledge understanding of my role and am excited to continue growing into my title as production roaster.” And, another recipient reflects on the impact attending retreat has had on their career, saying; “The biggest impact of CRG Retreat had to my career was building new relationships with other roasters. Sharing ideas and experiences with others creates so many insightful conversations and connections.”
All roasters with an interest in furthering their knowledge of working with specialty coffee and improving their roasting skills who want to expand their experience and widen their network in the specialty coffee community are encouraged to apply.
