What's Happening with CRG Retreat and Camp This Year?
Hello members and friends of the Coffee Roasters Guild,
I hope you’re staying healthy and safe in this moment of great uncertainty. I hope you have had a chance to take at some of the virtual resources from the SCA and the CRG. If you haven't already taken advantage of the many educational and networking opportunities, please visit SCA News and the CRG Blog for information.
I would like to give you an update on the status of the 2020 CRG Retreat, our annual event in the US, and CRG Camp, our annual gathering in Europe. Retreat usually takes place in August, with registration opening in May, and Camp typically takes place in September, with registration opening in June.
After deliberate discussions with staff, volunteers, sponsors, and lots of folks like you who make CRG Retreat possible every year, we have decided not to host CRG Retreat this year. As you know, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has had a serious impact on coffee roasting professionals and businesses and it remains unclear when we’ll all be able to gather safely again.
As CRG Camp (our European event) takes place later in the year, we have not yet made a decision regarding the future of this event. We’re going to continue monitoring the pandemic—hoping that the situation improves—and we’ll give you an update as soon as possible.
We’re looking at options for bringing the coffee roasting community together via a virtual platform, and though it will most certainly not be the same experience as getting together around a campfire in the real world, we will do our best to make it memorable.
Remember to keep an eye on our newsletters, the CRG Blog, and our social media channels (in the navigation of our website) for the latest updates.
With love,
Jen Apodaca
Chair of the Coffee Roasters Guild
