Since 2004, students and faculty of North Central College have partnered with Café Juan Ana, an indigenous growers association based in the Atitlán region of Guatemala. SCA Guilds Director Richard Stiller, and CRG Advisory Council member David Myers, will moderate a conversation with North Central College professors Gerald Thalmann and Matthew Krystal. Thalmann and Krystal will discuss the importance of building relationships as part of their direct trade coffee program. Additionally, illustrated with excerpts of video-recorded interviews with coffee farmers, Krystal and Thalmann explore the concept of “relationship” from a cross-cultural perspective.
